Misty Turns Thirty

Published May 13, 2026

This past weekend my dad and I flew down to Atlanta, rented a car, and drove out to our hometown of Cartersville, Georgia for a few days. We went to see our horse Misty, who turned thirty.

Thirty is a big number for a horse, so it was a good excuse to make the trip.

Misty.

Misty lived at our home in Cartersville for most of her life. A few years ago, after my sister and I moved to New York, my parents decided to leave Georgia and head to Essex, Connecticut — partly to be closer to family and partly to be a shorter drive from us. My parents sold the property, and Misty stayed in Georgia. She’s now boarded at Blackberry Pastures.

The farm threw Misty a birthday party. It was a great chance for my Dad and I to spend a few days together while reconnecting with the town I called home for almost twenty years.
