A New Cove at Bushwick Inlet Park

Recently, Crystal and I went to the new cove section of Bushwick Inlet Park with Jupiter. It sits on Franklin between N 12th and Quay, extending the older section of the park. The existing park has a dog run, soccer fields, a bathroom, and a small beach that’s one of Jupiter’s favorites. We stop by often on runs, for bathroom breaks, or just for the skyline view.

The new section just opened. It’s close to home, and since Jupiter likes water access anywhere she can find it along the East River shoreline, it will join the older part as one of our regular stops. We keep her on an extendable leash and try not to let her submerge her ears.

The extension is small and has no shade, so it got hot fast. But the flowers are nice, and it does feel out of the city. A father and son were out with an RC boat, which Jupiter took an intense interest in. We hope to be back often. A kayak makes sense here, and the cove looks like it’d make a good bird sanctuary too.
